Brent Ohata is an adult rheumatologist specializing in inflammatory arthritis and autoimmune connective tissue diseases. He completed his undergraduate studies at Yale, medical school and residency at McGill, and rheumatology fellowship at the University of British Columbia. As a member of the UBC Division of Rheumatology, he is involved in resident training and teaches the immunology course for rheumatology fellows. He is passionate about indigenous health and health equity. He won the 2017 Innovation Award in the UBC Division of Rheumatology for championing telehealth as a means of improving access to rheumatologic care in rural BC.
